We've been working hard for over ten years to make Dolphin Smalltalk the programming system you see today. As you probably know, we sell the Professional Edition of Dolphin as our commercial product but this is a difficult marketplace to be in when many companies are willing to give away their software development tools (e.g. Sun's JDK and IBM's Eclipse) as loss leaders for their own particular agendas.

We firmly believe that Smalltalk is a better way of creating software than most of the other programming environments out there. It's for this reason that we created the Community Edition of Dolphin; so that anyone can experience the power of Smalltalk without having to make an upfront investment of several hundred dollars.

Naturally, we hope you'll want to purchase Dolphin Professional eventually but if you think that this is beyond your means and you'd rather stay with the free version for now, then maybe you'd consider a small donation instead.
