Preparing SQL for Later Execution

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Very often it is a good idea to compile an SQL statement once so that it is ready to be used repeatedly later. This will naturally be more efficient since the database engine will not have to parse the SQL string each time the statement is submitted. The Dolphin Database Connection allows you to prepare SQL statements in advance for just this purpose. The SQL text may also contain '?' placeholders that can later be substituted with parameter values immediately prior to execution.
