The Packages Pane allows you to select one or more packages to be browsed.
The top area shows a tree of the folders where the packages that are loaded into the image reside on disk. When you select a folder, the lower area refreshes to show a list of the packages contained within it (and within the sub-folders it contains). Selecting the folder marked $ will display all the packages in the system. Hence you can use the folder pane to filter the list of packages displayed.

Packages are marked with this icon when their contents have been changed and the package has not yet been saved to disk or updated in the Source Tracking System repository. |
In addition to selecting the package(s) to be viewed by the browser, you can also use the context menu to perform various package-based operations such as: installing, uninstalling or creating new packages.
