The Dolphin Smalltalk development environment requires a computer running one of the following Microsoft operating systems:
Note: The Dolphin environment does appear to run correctly on Windows 2000. However, this operating system has not been a part of our in-house testing so, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee full compatibility.
Note that, although the development system is not guaranteed to run correctly on operating systems other than the above, you may still use it to develop applications that will run on any of the following versions of Microsoft Windows.
| • | Windows NT4 SP3 or later |
If you do choose to deploy an application and run it on one of the earlier versions of Windows, you will need to make sure that you do not use any features of the operating system that are not available in that version.
Windows Service Packs
In general it is a good idea to ensure that you have applied the latest Windows service packs or updates before installing Dolphin on your computer.
Hardware Requirements
We also make the following recommendations for your computer hardware:
| • | Pentium 4 or equivalent/faster processor. |
| • | At least 32 MB of memory in addition to the required by the operating system and other applications. |
| • | 30 MB available hard disk space. |
| • | Display adapter capable of 1024x768 resolution and at least 256 colours.
